Nature’s All-Purpose Cleaner

February 8, 2016

The cleaning power of Thieves household cleaner is awesome and it is one of my favorite Young Living products that I use every day. I have bottles of this refreshing nontoxic cleaner in the kitchen, the laundry room, and upstairs bathrooms. I actually bring this with us when we airbnb it on our travels. I can’t take the smell of toxic cleaning products anymore!

To use Thieves cleaner as an all-purpose cleaner, dilution is 1 to 30. I got the spray bottle in the photo at TJMaxx for $1.99. You can also get spray bottles in the dollar store. For around the house, I like the large heavy duty spray bottles you can get at Lowes like this one. To make your all-purpose spray:

  1. Add one capful of Thieves household cleaner to the spray bottle. For larger spray bottles that are 32 ounces for an all-purpose cleaner you only need 2 capfuls of thieves cleaner.
  2. For fragrance, add 5-10 drops of essential oil to a small spray bottle or 15-25 drops for a larger one, according to your olfactory sense desires! Thieves cleaner does not really have a scent, so I add my own. Having experimented with a bunch of scents – spearmint, peppermint, eucalyptus and lemon essential oils are among my favorites to add. While these oils also possess cleaning properties, you don’t need it for that, thieves cleaner packs enough of a punch, I just love the refreshing and uplifting scent!
  3. Fill to the top with water.
  4. Twist on the spray top and you’re done!

And that’s it! These make great gifts and I hear over and over how people love using them. This is the size I gift and take with me when airbnbing it. For around the house, I use the large plastic spray bottles that hold 32 fl oz (4 cups), for that use 2 capfuls of the thieves cleaner.

Also, Thieves household cleaner can be used for stain removal. I  have used it for all sorts of stains from beetroot juice to strawberry to marker.
